Family/Friends Fun Activity: Mario Golf (Super Under-rated)

Bowling you can only do so many times until it grows boring, as with laser tag and, well, any other activities. I plan on changing this problem with my future business, but for now we will have to do with what is already out there!

Mario Golf

Enter, Mario Golf. I know, it's golf, how can this be fun.

GIVE. IT. A. CHANCE.

This game dwarfs Fortnite in fun, and if you ever liked any Mario game ever, this is better. It's like a constant mini-game from Mario Party. There are three modes that your party can partake in:

Normal

Played golf on Wii Sports? Take that and add some mechanics. You can add spin to your ball and shape your shots in this addition. The courses have a Mario twist with a fun vibe and fun obstacles. You also get a special that you can use occasionally, which can either blast other balls from their current location, turn the surrounding area into ice, summon fog, and others!

Speed

Now this is where things get interesting. All players involved all hit their balls at the SAME time. Once you hit you ball, you pick up your bag and run to your ball. This game mode is a combination of how many strokes it takes you to get it in the hole, and how FAST you can get it in the hole. Each stroke adds 30 seconds to your time.

Along with the special shots also available in this mode, there is another mechanic with sprinting. You can dash using some stamina, and each player has different stats. Bowser hits it FAR but Yoshi runs FAST. Super fun to play around and find the best player

Battle

This one is the fastest mode, and the most competitive in my opinion. Many situations where I was clenching my butt in close calls. There are 9 holes available in close proximity. The goal is to be the first player to get your ball in three of the holes. The twist is, when you hit your ball in a hole, the hole CLOSES. No one else can hit their ball in that hole. So if you and another player putt the ball at the same time, and their ball rolls in first, it closes and you just wasted valuable time over a hole you don't even get the point for while other players are at other holes.

Highly strategic game mode, and can be made even harder by changing the terrain and adding hazards through the different modes available.

Conclusion

A campaign mode exists within this game, but this post is focusing on the party mode aspect. Although it's golf, Mario has made golf a VERY fun, strategic, fast paced game. You NEED to give this game a shot.
