I am normally fully against Go Karts. They're basic and lack in innovation. Most tracks have been the exact same since the last time I went to one in 2005. When you ride the track once, it's over. There's nothing new! Any most tracks don't allow bumping so it's driving slow cars behind your friends for three minutes.
Chaos Karts however, changed my mind.
What is Chaos Karts?
Honestly just imagine jumping into your TV when playing Mario Kart. Chaos Karts creating cool looking Karts, and changed the way tracks work. Instead of physically building a track for a large amount of money, and only having ONE track after spending that money, Chaos Karts builds a large room and has AI technology create a floor of an infinite number of tracks. Due to new technology, the karts can track when you are not on the road, and slow you down. Without this technology, you could just cut over all the boundaries with the track being projected on the floor. However with technology, your kart knows where you are on the track at all times so there is no cheating! Along with cool karts and cool infinite number of tracks, is powers that Chaos Karts allows you to have.
To play, you are not playing to end up in first place like the conventional Go Karts. With technology, you are playing to gain the most points. In this game, you collect jewels and points and can do that in multiple ways. The player with the most points at the end of the race, wins the race. The person at the end of all the races with the most won races, wins the tournament.
Powers
You can choose from four different powers when racing with Chaos Karts. These powers not only affect other karts, but actually visually happen on the track which is awesome to experience. Some of the powers you can choose from are:
Hammer
When you use the hammer on the track, visually on the track you can see your giant hammer being swung. When you use this, surrounding karts next to you will stop moving!
Laser Gun
When you use the laser gun, in front of your kart a giant laser shoots in a strait line. If this laser hits a kart in front of you, their kart will stop. You better have good aim! You also gain points if you hit a kart with this.
Speed Boost
This is probably self explanatory. When using the speed boost, well your kart speeds up! Also behind your kart is a visual flame!
Bomb
With this, you can visually drop a bomb behind your kart on the track. If someone runs into this bomb or within a certain amount of time, this bomb will explode and make the surrounding karts stop!
Tracks
This is super cool. First of all, the tracks are completely augmented. There are no PHYSICAL boundaries but if your kart runs into a wall projected on to the ground, it will stop. Because the track is augmented, the track is never same. Neither the shape, nor the theme. You could be on a 8 shape track one second or a straightaway the next race. You could be in the ocean in race and in space on the next.
Not only is the theme and different tracks cool, but the tracks are actually interactive. Every once in awhile, short cuts will pop up on the map. You can take these shortcuts when the happen, but if for example this shortcut is a bridge and it turns to ice while you are on it, your kart will react and swerve or slowdown. The track being interactive is another step in the game!
Overall
You are actually playing a video game in real life. Not only do you get the thrill of normal go karts, but it's been gamified. You get to be different by choosing different powers, you get to compete more by actually affecting other players, you get to be sneaky by learning tracks and taking advantage of shortcuts. This is 10x better than normal go karts!
