Everyone Should Have Candles For This Reason

Walking into grandma's on Christmas, she always had one candle lit that made the entire house make my nose buds dance in joy. I never knew what the candle was, but when I smelled it, I instantly became happy. It didn't matter where, if I smelled this candle at a store at a disgusting store, I still would get joy from the association of the smell. But not only did it bring happiness to me, it somehow SMELLED like Christmas. It set the mood. We definitely could have had the party without the candles, but with the candles it added a whole new layer of immersion into the spirit.

Candles are more than just a smell, and here are some of those reasons:

Memories

Smell is totally underrated. Most people think it is just an additional sense we have, but it so much more. We associate smells to memories, so yes, when you smell someone wearing your exes perfume at a crowded place you'll instantly have a flood of memories of your ex. You might not even know you're thinking of her because you smelled her perfume!

Buying a candle your family used to light, or smells like the gingerbread cookies you used to make on Christmas will bring nostalgia and ultimately happiness. Also, there are a line of candles that smell exactly like the roller coasters do at Disney! If you didn't know, Disney pumps smells into their ride because they know smell is underrated. It adds to the experience, it's a distinct smell you'll remember and associate to that ride! And if done right, it extra makes you feel like where you should feel you are. However there are now candles imitating these smells, so you can have that nostalgia feeling at home!

Emotions

There are a LOT of candles that are designated to providing a certain result, like focus, sleep, energy. There are also candles that can attempt to make you feel better when sad, or to light to celebrate when something good happens.

Or with our story earlier, you can light candles that make people happy during a party. Again, you can totally have a party without candles lit but it DOES add an additional layer of awesomeness. It sets the mood!

Ambience

It sets the mood. Candles absolutely immerse you into whatever you want to be immersed in. It sets the vibe like no other. On Christmas, you get that warm fuzzy feeling when you see the hours of work your parents did setting up the christmas tree with the lights and mistletoes, but you get that same fuzzy feeling when you smell the Christmas smelled candle that took .2 seconds to light. It's an easy way to set the mood for anything, and it does a great job at it.

Overall

Candles have actual benefits for people, but also set the mood for anything you want the mood to be set to. Smell is absolutely underrated, and by understanding this, you can take advantage of all smell has to offer.
