What is dead by daylight?
Dead by Daylight is an asymmetrical multiplayer horror game. Alright. Let's break that apart.
Asymmetrical means the two side of the game, the killer or a survivor, are not equal. In a match, you can choose to be the killer (there is one per match) or survivor (there are four per match). As a killer, your goal is to sacrifice all four players, or as many as you can, to the entity. There is no such thing as a "win," but HOW you do will either rank you up or down. As a survivor, your goal is to, well, not die. And also repair five generators (which take forever) which will turn on the power, and then you can open the exit gates to leave, and you survive! This is technically a win, but even if you escape you can rank down if you were hiding the whole time! The more you do, the more points you get! Asymmetrical comes into play as the killer is the only player with power. He can hit, he can knock, and he can kill. The players can run, and throw down pallets to avoid being chased.
Horror - yes it is scary. The first 5 times. As a survivor you have no idea what to do your first times playing, all you know is that there is creepy music and there is an angry woman with a hatchet wearing a bunny mask chasing you. It can be scary! As you progress though, the scariness fades and it turns into a strategic game!
Multiplayer. There are 4 survivors, so you can absolutely squad up with your pals! As a killer it is only you if you queue for a public lobby, so with friends you will have to queue as a survivor. This game is 100% real people, there are no AI!
Fun?
Absolutely. This is one of the FEW games I have played for over four years. This is a game me and my friends constantly rotate, along with rocket league. There are always new killers, new survivors, new perks, new maps, and different ways to play because of this new new new constantly coming. It never gets old and you can always get better! Playing with your friends makes this a million times more fun, as there is nothing like communicating to friends strategically while being chased down by Ghost Face.
IP?
Dead by Daylight has been doing a FANTASTIC job getting popular characters into the game which is so cool. Bring real life horror characters to the game is something you could only dream of. The demogorgen, Ghostface, Leatherface, and much more has been brought to life in this game. The idea that your favorite killer has a chance of becoming a reality, and you can play as them to kill actual players is super exciting!
Repeatable?
Definitely repeatable. If you are a casual gamer, it will take you forever to climb the rankings. And the game changes each time you rank up as the killers or survivors get better too, so you constantly need to be adapting learning new strategies. For this reason, it is absolutely repeatable.
Overall
Dead by Daylight is the perfect Spooky season game to play, but heck it is even fun to play outside of spooky season. It is highly strategic, super creative, and amazing to hear your friends scream as they are knocked down for the final time as you sit there and stare.
